This can take the form of the <strong>asylum or subsidiary protection<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Once you have submitted your application, you <strong>must go to the reception centre<\/strong> for registration and basic health checks. You will then be transferred to a <strong>reception centre<\/strong> where you will wait for a decision on your application. The process usually takes <strong>up to six months<\/strong>. During the application process, and if you are granted international protection, you are <strong>entitled to state support<\/strong> in housing, education, health care, and social assistance.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>What types of international protection are there?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h3><b>Asylum<\/b><\/h3>\n<p>Asylum is granted to individuals who have been <strong>persecuted<\/strong> in their home country due to:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"bullet\">\n<li>Political opinion<\/li>\n<li>Nationality<\/li>\n<li>Sex<\/li>\n<li>Race or membership of a particular social group<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Asylum can also be granted on <strong>humanitarian grounds<\/strong> or for <strong>family reunification<\/strong> if a close relative of yours has already been granted asylum in the Czech Republic.<\/p>\n<div class=\"box-fixa\">If you are granted asylum, you must <strong>give up the protection of your home country<\/strong> and cannot return for the duration of your asylum. Once you have completed the period of stay, you can apply for permanent residence or <strong>Czech citizenship<\/strong>.<\/div>\n<p><strong>Subsidiary protection<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you do not qualify for asylum, you may be granted <strong>subsidiary protection<\/strong>, provided that you <strong>face serious risks <\/strong>in your home country, such as:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"bullet\">\n<li>War or armed conflict<\/li>\n<li>Risk of torture, inhuman treatment or a serious threat to life<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Subsidiary protection is granted for a <strong>limited period <\/strong>and <strong>can be extended<\/strong> if the reasons for granting it persist.<\/p>\n<div class=\"box-fixa\"><\/p>\n<p>Extension must be applied for <strong>no later than 30 days before the expiry<\/strong> of the protection.<\/p>\n<p><\/div>\n<h2><strong>How to apply for international protection?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul class=\"bullet\">\n<li>You can <strong>apply in person at the Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic <\/strong>or at a border crossing upon entering the Czech Republic.<\/li>\n<li>After submitting your application, you will be taken to the <strong>reception centre<\/strong> where:<\/li>\n<li>You will undergo a <strong>medical examination<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Your <strong>fingerprints will be taken<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>You will be given an <strong>applicant identification card<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>You will then be transferred to a <strong>residential centre<\/strong> to await a decision.<\/li>\n<li>During the procedure, you will be interviewed by the <strong>Ministry of the Interior<\/strong> of the CR, which will assess your case.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You are <strong>entitled to free legal advice and interpretation<\/strong> throughout the process.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What support will you receive?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you are <strong>granted international protection<\/strong>, you will be eligible for support from the state under the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.integracniprogram.cz\/en\/\">State Integration Programme (SIP)<\/a>:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"bullet\">\n<li><strong>Housing<\/strong> \u2013 Assistance with finding accommodation, covering moving costs, and providing basic equipment.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Employment<\/strong> \u2013 You may work <strong>without a work permit<\/strong> and use the employment office&#8217;s services to find a job or retrain.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Education<\/strong> \u2013 Intensive Czech courses, recognition of studies obtained abroad, and support in enrolling children in schools.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Social support <\/strong>\u2013 Assistance with dealing with authorities and eligibility for social benefits.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Healthcare<\/strong> \u2013 Access to public health insurance and help with finding a doctor.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Legal assistance<\/strong> \u2013 Access to <strong>free legal services<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For more information, visit the website of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mvcr.cz\/migrace\/clanek\/nase-hlavni-temata-mezinarodni-ochrana-mezinarodni-ochrana.aspx\">Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic<\/a> or refer to <a href=\"https:\/\/mv.gov.cz\/migrace\/docDetail.aspx?docid=22081172&amp;doctype=ART\">information brochures<\/a> in Czech, English, Russian and Ukrainian.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Here you will learn how to apply for international protection in the Czech Republic, who is eligible and what the entire process entails.
