Christmas is coming, accompanied by the annual hunt for original gifts. The Christmas market held by the Organization for Aid to Refugees (OPU) at the Holešovice Market’s Hall No. 17 during the weekend of 14th to 15th will offer more than just shopping! It is a meeting place where sharing stories and traditions helps to break down the boundaries between cultures, countries and people.
This unique market is a bridge between cultures, stories and creative ideas from different parts of the world. Visitors can choose from unique design products, taste specialties from different countries, take part in workshops for both children and adults, enjoy musical performances and make your own artifacts. The programme also includes a pop-up exhibition showcasing the work of people with migration experience. Last but not least, by visiting the market, you will support the OPU’s activities and enrich the community event.
“The OPU Christmas Market is more than just a place to buy gifts. In this hectic time, we want to offer a calm and friendly atmosphere that warms the soul,” says Martin Jakub, the event organizer. The market also offers an opportunity to pause, take a breath and enjoy the magic of the festive season in an inspiring environment where different cultures and traditions intertwine with hope, the fight for human rights and cultural enrichment.
For more information and an updated programme follow OPU’s social media and the event on Facebook.
The event is funded by UNHCR and the UN Refugee Agency and is organized as a part of the ‘Facilitating Effective Access to Asylum Procedures, Promoting Legal Equality, Preventing Statelessness, and Supporting the Integration of Refugees and Displaced Persons’ project.
