MoreOn 17th July 2024, the Czech government approved a change in eligible housing costs for newcomers from Ukraine who fled Russian aggression.
Some refugees are now using free emergency accommodation, but this will no longer be possible from 1 September 2024. The Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs in cooperation with other experts has therefore prepared a proposal to support these foreigners after the free emergency accommodation ceases to be provided. As of 1st August 2024, the amount of eligible housing costs is changed to CZK 6,000 per person per month for vulnerable persons and to CZK 4,000 for other persons. There is no difference in the amount of eligible housing costs in registered accommodation and in other types of accommodation. A jointly assessed group of people may consist of the maximum of 5 persons, vulnerable persons being taken into account first.
The press release is available on the website of the MLSA (in Czech).
We would like to remind you that people with the status of vulnerable persons who have been accommodated in state humanitarian accommodation are offered assistance to move into rental housing. More information is available here.
