Celebrate Easter in Prague

Easter is the most important Christian holiday which celebrates resurrection of Christ. Moreover, it is a spring festival and a time when nature awakens after its winter sleep. In the Czech Republic it is associated with a lot of folk traditions such as decorating eggs and braiding whips from willow twigs. This year, Easter falls between March and April.

There is a range of events that take place in Prague during the Easter holidays and we have prepared several tips for you. What about going to the Easter markets at the Old Town Square or Republic Square (náměstí Republiky) where you can see a wide range of Easter goods? The individual city districts have prepared a rich programme for you as well. We recommend professional as well as children’s ensemble performancess, fairy tales, creative workshops and other events organised by Prague 6  or the celebrations at the Počernice brewery which take place in Prague 14 on 1 April. If you would like to try out traditional Ukrainian egg decorating or whip braiding, make sure to go to the InBase NNO on 29 March.
