Explore Prague at Discounted Prices: New Year’s Gift for All Prague Residents
In lieu of the formerly traditional fireworks, Prague has prepared something truly exceptional for you….
MoreThe minimum wage in the Czech Republic has been increased since 1st January 2025. The new monthly wage is CZK 20 800 and the full-time minimum hourly wage is CZK 124.40. This change applies to all employees, including foreigners who apply for the issuance or extension of the employee card or notify a change of an employer.
If you are applying for the employee card now, do not forget that the employment contract submitted together with the application must correspond with the new minimum wage. The same rule applies to notifications of change of employer. However, if your application was submitted no later than 31st December 2024, the employment contract under the old terms will be accepted and you do not have to submit an updated version. Even in this case the employer must not employ you for a wage lower than the current legal minimum, though.
It is important that any employment contract complies with current legislation. If you have any doubts about your wage or your rights, you can use free legal counselling of the Integration Centre Prague, other NGOs or the State Labour Inspection Office.
