MoreThe House of National Minorities with financial support of the City of Prague organises the 23rd year of Meeting of National Minorities that will take place in the Municipal Library in Prague on 7th November from 9 a.m.
The event will include a full-day conference titled ‘National Minorities and Film’ that will be followed by an evening programme: screening of documentaries made by filmmakers from the Vietnamese minority.
The conference features two main thematic blocks: ‘Minorities in film and behind the camera’ and ‘The Roma in film and documentary’. Both the parts will take place in the main building of the Municipal Library in Prague (Mariánské Square 1, Prague 1) and the invited panellists include film director Matej Mináč, FAMU dean David Čeněk, polonist Jitka Rohanová, civic activist Jaroslav Miko, director Oksana Moiseniuk, producer Jakub Novosad and screenwriter and director Světlana Lazarová.
At the end of the first session there will be an award ceremony and the ‘Award of the Chairman of the National Minorities Committee of the Prague City Council for exceptional contribution to the life of national minorities in the capital city of Prague” will be presented.
The final part of this year’s Meeting of National Minorities will take place from 6 p.m. at the Ponrepo cinema (Bartolomějská 11, Prague 1). The participants may look forward to documentaries made by Vietnamese filmmakers and a discussion with the authors, as well as a programme introducing Vietnamese culture.
During the conference, a new visual identity and a logo of the House of National Minorities, a contributory organisation of the Capital City of Prague, will be presented.
As usual, the conference has been supported by important partners – the Capital City of Prague, the National Film Archive and FAMU. The main media partner is Czech Television.
The event is held under the auspices of Deputy Mayor of the Capital City of Prague Jiří Pospíšil.
