MorePrague 14 invites everyone to the 9th year of the Cultural Encounters (Setkání kultur) festival. There are several events prepared for you during April and May: you can enjoy the sounds of Romani and Latin American music, come to the Hloubětín branch of the Municipal Library (Poděbradská 489/4) and browse the exclusive selection of foreign authors, or take part in various travel talks.
On Saturday 7 April, lots of fun will be had at the Cultural Centre in Kyje (Šimanovská 47). A musical evening will start at 6 p.m. and you can look forward to Romani music, Latin American rhythms with a new twist, and some proper Catalan rumba. There will be two bands – Duo Band Kladno and Dos Cubanas – plus singer/guitarist Ricardo Rivera.
Fans of Hungary will be pleased to hear there is a travel talk about the history and traditions of this country which will take place on 27 April from 4 p.m. at the Broumarská Community Centre (Broumarská 25/1610). A similar event focused on Ukraine will take place at the Kardašovská Community Centre (Kardašovská 626/5) on 9 May. You can come for community cooking at 4 p.m. and stay for a travel talk which will start at 6 p.m.
The festival’s last event is called “Pictures and Tastes of Vietnam”. To spend an evening learning about the life, culture, and gastronomy in Vietnam, come to Kavárna Maňána (Maňákova 745) on 24 May at 7 p.m.
The Cultures Encounter campaign is organised with the support of the Prague City Hall. The medial partner is Czech Radio’s Regina DAB Praha station. Admission to all events is free of charge.
