Are you a teaching assistant at a primary school and want to learn how to provide support to multilingual pupils (children with a different mother tongue – DMT)? Are you planning to take up this job and want to expand your knowledge and skills?

The Meta organisation has prepared a free webinar on the role and the approach of a teaching assistant supporting pupils with a different mother tongue. The accredited webinar is suitable for current and future teaching assistants who have multilingual pupils in their classrooms.

Aim of the seminar

The aim of the webinar is to train teaching assistants to be able to provide support to multilingual pupils and their teachers at primary (secondary) schools. The participants will receive tips on useful existing teaching materials and on the creation of their own materials. Together they will discuss and define their role in supporting pupils with a DMT and their teacher and in cooperation with the pupils’ parents.

 

What knowledge and skills will you get at the seminar?

You will learn who children and pupils with a DMT are. You will be explained the situation of multilingual children and pupils who have started studying at a Czech school. You will get practical tips that will make it easier for multilingual pupils to start school. You will learn how to support them as a (bilingual) teaching assistant for multilingual pupils – we will talk about your role, competences, job description and status at school. You will get tips on how to communicate with parents of multilingual pupils. You will learn basic principles of pedagogical work leading to the active inclusion of multilingual pupils in the class. You will learn about suitable teaching materials (especially worksheets) and get practical examples and suggestions for work with multilingual pupils.

 

For whom is the seminar intended?

The seminar is intended for teaching assistants at primary schools. It is also suitable for people preparing for the job of a teaching assistant in classes with multilingual pupils.

 

Accreditation

The seminar is accredited by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports je akreditován MŠMT (ref. No.: MSMT- 13873/2021-3-518). Participants will receive a certificate after completing the seminar.
