The Prague City Gallery is organising art workshops at Troja Castle for April as part of the “Labyrinth: Landscape of Inner Wandering” programme. Some of the April sessions have already taken place, but others are still available throughout the month.
Tree Canopies in Watercolour
Dates:
Place: Eco-Studio in the Troja Castle Orangery and the Troja Garden
This workshop focuses on the tree as a natural labyrinth of branches, vistas, light, and shadow. Particular attention is paid to the tree canopy, which is viewed as a living structure. Through watercolour painting, participants explore branching patterns as rhythm and repetition. They will experiment with layering colours, transparency, and lines to capture the depth of space and the dynamics of movement within the tree canopy.
Basic watercolour painting supplies are provided, but participants are also welcome to bring their own materials. The workshop takes place in the eco-studio or, weather permitting, in the garden of Troja Castle.
Structures and Ceramic Art
Dates:
Place: Eco-Studio in the Troja Castle Orangery
The workshop focuses on freehand clay modelling inspired by labyrinths and natural structures. Participants explore the relationship between the material, artistic expression, and spatial form.
To complete a ceramic piece, participants must attend two consecutive workshops. The clay-working session is followed by a ceramics decoration workshop, during which the fired pieces will be painted.
Who is the programme for
The programme is designed for adults and seniors, as well as children and grandchildren as part of intergenerational gatherings. The workshops are also open to international visitors.
More information:
The programmes are implemented with financial support from UNHCR, the Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic, and Prague City Hall.
