The META NGO in cooperation with the Centre for the Integration of Foreigners would like to invite you to a panel discussion on the support of secondary school students with a different mother tongue called Základkou to nekončí (Primary School Is Not the End of the Story). The discussion will take place on 21st March 2019 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Goethe-Institut in Prague. Come and debate the topics related to the studies of young people with a different mother tongue (DMT) at Czech secondary schools from the admission exams to the maturita exam.
We will look into the obstacles which prevent young people without a profound knowledge of academic Czech to study at secondary schools. We will talk about the options they have to improve their Czech, the forms of school support, as well as systemic measures which may enhance openness and development of Czech secondary education. We will draw inspiration from schools which have experience and success with supporting students with DMTs.
The event is organised as a part of Don’t give up!, a project aimed at language support of students with a DMT who are studying or going to study at secondary schools.
To learn more information and to register, go to the website of META.
